The City of Fort Worth Animal Care and Control Division is seeking to hire a qualified applicant to supervise Animal Shelter operations.
To enforce State and City laws, ordinances, and regulations; to exercise direct supervision over technical and clerical staff; plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of employees responsible for municipal code investigation, inspection and enforcement activities in Code Compliance; participate in the selection of employees; provide or coordinate employee training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures; and prepare analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities.
MS Word and Excel experience required. Management/Supervisory and extensive public contact work experience required. 7:00 AM-6:30 PM; 7 days a week/rotating schedule; weekends and holidays.
Skills / Requirements
High School diploma OR GED supplemented by specialized training in one or more of the following fields: code compliance, animal control or enforcement, health inspections, public health or building/construction trades PLUS four (4) years of experience in one or more of the following disciplines: code compliance (direct code enforcement of field inspection), animal control, building or construction trades, zoning or health inspections PLUS one (1) year of administrative and /or lead supervisory experience required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Preference given to candidates possessing an Associates degree or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in business management, environmental science, public health, food science or other related field. Associates or Bachelors degree may be substituted for two years experience.
MISC. REQUIREMENTS:Travel from site to site; possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid class C drivers license required.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, the Animal Control Officer Basic Certification through the Texas Department of State Health Services required.
