Public Events is seeking a qualified candidate to perform a variety of clerical tasks in the Sales division.
The ideal candidate will coordinate and provide routine administrative and technical support to the daily operations of assigned service area; assist in monitoring, reporting, researching, and evaluating projects and programs; and perform a wide variety of complex clerical and routine fiscal, administrative and technical tasks to other staff and management personnel in assigned area of responsibility.
When assigned to the Public Events Department, the incumbent will conduct outside local sales calls to generate new and repeat short term business; conduct site inspections, prepare and submit bid proposals, execute contracts for events; communicate city policies relating to fire codes, security, safety, labor as well as exclusive services such as catering, concessions, security and telecommunications, negotiate rental and lease terms for events, and coordinate with the Citys legal department to resolve contractual issues. Candidate must be able to understand and demonstrate basic sales techniques and procedures. Must be able to interact with a diverse client base.
Associate's degree from an accredited college with major course work in Business, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Office Administration, or related field PLUS two (2) years of combined complex clerical and routine administrative experience required. Preference will be given to candidates with two years or more of sales experience in the Hospitality industry.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:MS Word and Excel required. Heavy phone and heavy public contact required. Must pass Computerized Office Skills exam with a score of 70 and typing examination with a minimum score of 40 wpm.
